The story I took the quote from is about a big shot, popular basketball player in high school (Shad) that falls in love with a smart or nerdy girl(Darcy). The begining of the story sounds alot like high school musical (not that I have seen it) except for their was no singing and dancing, noone looks like Zack Efron and their isnt a happy ending. In the story Shad and Darcy start to like eachother and start dating and spend alot of time together but they keep there relationship private. After a wile Shad's friends start to notice that he is missing things and eventually find out that he is dating Darcy. His friends ridicule and alienate him to the point where he begins to second guess his entire relationship. Shad begins to ignore Darcy and blow her off because he is tired of being made fun of. The quote I chose is from a part in the story where after being ignored and avoided Darcy goes up to Shad at lunch and yells at him and tells him how he has been acting and gives Shad's friends love notes that Shad had writen for Darcy. As Shad watches his friends laughing at him he relizes that he will be the first one to grow up in his group. After losing darcy for ever he relizes that its not about high school social classes it is about what kind of person you are and what kind of person you want to be with. I thing this is a very good story because it depicts the social structure of an average high school pretty accurately and shows what good things can happen when you try to cross those social boundries and also the bad that can come from getting caught up in the social presures and normalities of normal high school life.
